Who are we?
We are the Anglican and Methodist church in the villages of Sturry, Westbere, Hersden, Fordwich and Broad Oak. Our church is an "LEP" (Local Ecumenical Partnershp) and we have a mix of Anglican and Methodist services, although we welcome Christians from any denomination to join with us in worship.
We are part of the Canterbury Diocese within the Church of England. This diocese covers most of Kent except the Medway Towns. Within this we are part of the Canterbury Deanery.
Being so close to Canterbury Cathedral means we sometimes take part in events at the Cathedral, such as Deanery Songs of Praise services, the Easter Monday Pilgrimmage, special events such as The Gathering and talks or Bible Readings such as the Easter week series of lectures.
We are part of the Canterbury and Coastal Circuit within the South East District of the Methodist Church. This means that our Rector/Minister also preaches within the circtuit and we sometimes have local preachers from the circuit.
We take part each year in the local Eistedford - a celebration of creativity, art, muisc including Bible reading and worship.
Churches Together in Sturry
As part of Churches Together in Sturry we work closely with the Catholic Church in Hersden.
What do we do?
We worship God in a variety of styles, organise and host a variety of community organisations and events, support a range of charities and with the help of 'the Friends' look after several historic buildings.
