Service Times & Events

 Public worship has restarted at St. Nicholas’ Church in Sturry each Sunday with a 10.00 a.m. service.


The church will continue to open for private prayer Wednesday 10 am. to noon and Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm
Please ensure that you wear a face mask (unless you are exempt) and abide by social distancing rules

Westbere church will remain closed for public worship until further notice.

Other church groups, as listed below, will not be meeting until further notice.

Soup on Saturday

Once a month Sturry church serve Soup at lunchtime. A chance to catch up with friends as well as get a warm lunch.

There is usually a choice of two homemade soups on offer.

Tuesday - Sturry Singers

This is a community group that meet on Tuesdays in Sturry Church to enjoy singing and learning a wide variety of music. They give charity concerts  and sing at local events and competitions.

At present the choir meets on Tuesday late afternoons from 4pm until 6pm. This is currently a women-only choir, but there are preparations underway for a mixed choir too. 

Tuesday - Bell Ringing

Bell ringing practise occurs on Tuesday evenings from 7pm. The bell ringers regularly enter local competitions.

The church bells can be heard on the Kent bell-ringing website.

 

Sunday Activities

Sometimes there is a Messy Church in Sturry Church ar 4pm, aimed at families with young children. Messy church at Sturry starts with time to explore many different activities, mostly craft or activity-based. This is followed by a story and maybe some prayers. Then we all share a cooked meal together.

Health, Healing and Bereavement Group

This group supports with prayer, and visits people in the Parish who are sick or bereaved.

Members of the group meet occasionally on Fridays to support one another.

Saturday Fundraising

Throughout the year there are many different fundraising events such as:

Valentines Fair
Mothers Day Flowers
Summer Fair
St Nicholas Fair

Wednesday - Coffee Morning

A weekly Coffee Morning at Sturry church from 9:45 to 11:45 am, with stalls for homemade cakes, jams, Traidcraft goods, recycled cards, books, etc. Refreshments including fairly traded tea and coffee are available. Local charities such as the Lord Whisky Fund often have stalls at the Coffee Morning too. This is a chance to visit the church, have a hot drink and meet up with friends or meet new people. In winter the church is heated, and there is a disabled loo, and a wheelchair/pushchair friendly entrance via the tower door.
